i really couldn't resist posting this, so here goes.
today, the piano tuner came over to replace the string that i had so wonderfully snapped by slamming octaves on the keys (something which i really, truly have to change) and also to do some, well, tuning. so yes, from what she said, i am apparently the first female to join the (ahem) select group of fls' students who snap their piano strings. i must be brilliant beyond words, really.
and snapping piano strings supposedly isn't a bad thing, because it shows you've been practising awfully hard (uhh, no pun intended). okay, wow, i'm so flattered.
enough said. {but anyway, i got advice as to how not to snap my strings. first the lowest - and hence one of the thickest, don't ask me how i did it - f-sharp string, now a c two octaves from the very top. i shall follow the advice religiously, for i don't intend to break a record of the most piano strings snapped, thank you very much. }

so anyway, we went to the ikea store at tampines yesterday, on the pretext of getting a computer chair (and of course, trying the swedish meatballs which were highly recommended by stacey, uhh, last year or 2 years back). oh, and also to get a mirror, because evidently my dad has got some weird idea in his brain which goes along the lines of yours truly requiring a full-length mirror. and being our first time there, we just went around the whole place, getting jostled amongst the people (who were most probably there to conclude their last-minute christmas shopping, except i didn't know furniture items could be given as christmas presents) and if that could be said, absorbing the spirit of the festivities. and along the way, i got my parents to pick up hopelessly irrelevant things, like 3 ergonomic pillows, 2 cardboard boxes, clothes covers and a placemat, with the excuse that trumps all -- they were all 'bargain items', so i said.
(oh, and it seems that i have something with (hot) pink, i don't know why. oh wait, i know why. i've been sleeping on a pillow which has got a, yes you guessed it, pink cover on it, and obviously the pink got to my head. that would account for the sudden 'i want that pink plastic chair' episode then.)
basically, after around 1 1/2 hours of being overwhelmed by the shove and the squeeze, we headed to collect our chair. and we were hopelessly overjoyed when we found out that it was out of stock. (it was in stock when we first saw the samples. that's what dilly-dallying does to you.)
and yes, we headed to the checkout with a pushcart full of things we don't exactly need. -.-
my family must be fantabulous, don't you think.

and on a less retarded note, i think e-cards are cute (especially those for hallmark, haha!). other than the fact that a certain e-card that seems to stick to my computer like superglue, i wouldn't mind getting them over those that you send via (snail) mail.
my aunt and uncle sent a (e-)card from canada, and i'll get their presents when my grandma comes back from visiting (with my thoroughly nice cousin, but that's beside the point)! yay (: and it seems that she'll be going back during february after my aunt gives birth. haha, my globe-trotting grandma! (:
{i'm keeping all the e-cards in a folder to remind me of those memories, should no one decide to send me cards one day.}
2006's going to be history soon, i should start writing down new year's resolutions and tacking them in some highly visible place.
and hello 2007, even though you're still hiding round the corner.
MICHELLE. (:

lives, writes, sings, plays the piano, and attempts to sound intellectual at times (conclusion: fails rather miserably).
loves music (almost strictly classical, hurhur & inclusive of
faziolis!), literature (& also the sciences - no they are not in conflict), making hopelessly lame puns, laughter, white/milk chocolate,
cheesecake,
the world & the people in it.
list not exhaustive, by the way.
wants the world to be filled with peace, joy and love, and also wants (perhaps a little more selfishly) to be happy, plus lead a life of purpose. that would be more than enough. (:
oh, and she likes embarking on her own 'free hugs!' campaigns after exams and the like; not really sure why. D: (at any rate, you can tell that she's random enough.)
loves you!♥

very plain, she knows; but this is probably herself in its entirety - nothing more than a compilation of perhaps-boring-to-you little things (and the occasional Important Event), but also nothing less than all the brilliant memories which constitutes her life, and perhaps yours.
also interpreted as an inability to express with other things but words (nothing more, nothing less!), although even words sometimes won't do enough. but she does like orange.
v2.0 (230208): maybe solid grey isn't that fantastic after all. but wordy is good, all the same. she's weird, she knows.
ver. i-pretend-that-it-is-
3.0-when-i-know-it-is-not (070608): i
am boring, take
that. (:
v4.0 (200908): got bored, so cut down on the quasi-fanciful stuff even more. perfectly plain now, though somehow the background still doesn't work on safari / google chrome. ):
